HEAR (Hearing Education Auditory Resources) provides specialized support to children who are deaf or hard of hearing. HEAR services are available province-wide from birth to high school graduation from a HEAR itinerant teacher. School-age children can access support in their home schools. Pre-school services are available in the home or in childcare settings.
The level of service is based on an assessment of the child’s speech, language, vocabulary and listening skills. It also further varies from direct teaching to equipment checks to monthly or term consultations.
Personal DM/FM systems are provided to eligible deaf and hard of hearing students.
