The Public Schools Branch’s School Attendance Zones determine the appropriate school based on a student’s address. The PSB may determine there to be circumstances where a student may attend a school outside of the student’s School Attendance Zone.
It is important to note that a student transfer request will only be considered in exceptional circumstances (health, safety or learning needs) or to assist the Public Schools Branch in addressing a capacity issue. The Public Schools Branch student transfer procedures, provide the criteria for considering requests.
If a student transfer request is approved, transportation to and from the out-of-zone school is the responsibility of the parent. On request and where circumstances allow, a student may access existing bus routes.
The process to apply for a student transfer is outlined in the Student Transfer Operational Procedure.
